Frequently Asked Questions
Here are some of the most common questions asked about our services. If you have any other questions please contact us.
How long does permanent makeup last?
With the correct aftercare permanent makeup lasts an average of 18 months to 3 years, depending on various factors such as your skin type, sun exposure and skincare products.
Most people have a colour-boost treatment between 18 months and 2 years to maintain the ideal colour and shape.
Should I shape or dye my eyebrows before the appointment?
It is preferred that you arrive as natural as possible in terms of shape and colour. Your new eyebrow shape will be designed to complement your facial features and pattern of hair growth.
We will usually try to match the tattoo ink to your natural hair colour, unless you specifically want a different colour and you dye the hair to match the tattoo ink. Although, you have to remember the ink colour is permanent and so you need to be 100 percent certain of the colour change.
Who can have permanent makeup?
There are certain medical conditions that may prevent treatment. All medical conditions must be disclosed at the time of consultation. Some medical conditions may require consent from your GP.
The following groups are not suitable for permanent makeup:
- Under 18’
- Those that are pregnant or breastfeeding
Can old permanent makeup be covered?
Yes and no. It depends on the degree of saturation and the shape of the previous work. If I feel that the new permanent makeup will not cover the previously treated area then I will recommend tattoo removal either by laser or saline removal.
Both you and I need to be happy with your result and I will not proceed with the treatment unless I feel we will both be 100% satisfied.
Does it hurt?
Everybody has a different experience with their sensation to microblading and tattooing. Most clients tolerate the sensation well and report that waxing is far more sensitive than permanent makeup.
How do I prepare for the treatment?
Avoid the following 48 hours before:
- Alcohol and caffeine
2 weeks prior:
- Avoid sunbeds and sunbathing.
- Remove eyelash enhancements two weeks prior to treatment.
4 weeks prior:
- Avoid having Botox or dermal fillers less than four weeks prior to treatment.
What happens at the treatment?
Please allow 3 hours for brows and lips, 2.5 for eyeliner and 2 for eyelash enhancement.
The first part of the treatment is to map out the shape for the lips or brows. You are 100 % involved in this process and will be given lots of time to check the shape and style. I will alter the design as many times as needed before I proceed to the treatment.
I encourage you to bring any snacks you may need and if you want to break off to have a drink or food, this is never a problem.
The touch up appointment usually takes up to two thirds of the treatment time of the first appointment and is used to fill in areas where the ink has not taken or to make minor changes to the shape.
What is the aftercare?
Full aftercare instructions will be shared with you at the time of the treatment. It is important that you follow your aftercare to minimise the risk of infection and to promote optimum healing.
